Questions

What is the difference between a TFSA successor holder and a beneficiary?
A spouse or common-law partner named successor holder takes over the TFSA and keeps its tax-free room intact. A named beneficiary receives the value, but the room is not preserved the same way.
How do beneficiary designations avoid probate?
Registered accounts and insurance with a named beneficiary pass directly to that person, outside the estate, so they generally skip probate and the fees and delay it carries.
What income would my survivor keep?
The survivor estimator combines survivor CPP, surviving pension entitlements, and directly transferred assets to approximate the income a partner retains if you die first.
